A week back in Scotland...
The blog is quiet this week as I’m back in Scotland for work until 7 August.

Assistants
I met my new assistant Louise Hobson today. Louise is a volunteer at Ffotogallery and about to enter her final year in Documentary Photography at University of Wales, Newport. She is a keen Hasselblad user and is looking forward to learning how to use a Bowens lighting kit.

Menie residents in Foto8 Summershow
My portrait of Mike & Sheila Forbes shall be exhibitied at the Foto8 Summershow opening at HOST Gallery, London tonight.
I spent the summer of 2010 collaborating with residents of the Menie estate, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) situated 20 minutes north of Aberdeen.

The residency so far...
The last two weeks have been a roller coaster of highs and lows. I’ve been making progress…slowly.
Highlights have included:
*Seeing The Big Pit and going down the mine (although, this was also heartbreaking)
*Meeting some fantastic people.
*Seeing Blaenavon come to life on World Heritage Day 2011.
*Beautiful unique landscapes. The Valleys are breathtaking.
*A private curators...

About the project.
Hello Blaenavon!
I’ll be out and about Blaenavon with my camera tomorrow (Saturday 25 June) to celebrate World Heritage Day. I’ll be getting to know folk and looking for potential collaborators. Please say hello if you see me, I’m new in town. I’m almost 6ft tall with bright red hair, a big smile and a camera so you won’t miss me!
