Reminiscence photography workshop - Saturday 16 July
The remit of today’s workshop was examining and recreating historical images of Blaenavon.
Course outcomes:
- Digital photography
- Responding to and appropriating existing photographs
- Local history investigation
- The history of photography
- Discussion
We discussed image appropriation and looked at the work of Nicky Bird, Irina Werning and the blog Dear Photograph
Armed with an archive of old photographs of Blaenavon we went out in mixed weather we went out to create images inspires by what we saw and by the history of the town. Above are images by today’s participants which were created at magical sunny moments between today’s heavy rain showers.
Thanks to everyone for saying it was ‘the best workshop yet at the heritage centre’ An amazing compliment and a real confidence boost given some of the difficulties over the last three weeks.
Next week’s workshop will be on Saturday 23 July
