Workshop: The photographic portrait on location

Saturday 23 July

“The most difficult thing for me is a portrait. You have to try and put your camera between the skin of a person and his shirt.”

Henri Cartier-Bresson, Photography Year 1980, LIFE Library of Photography, Page 27

Participants created environmental portraits with thought and meaning on location in Blaenavon.  Everyone brought an item or keepsake which says something about themselves to discuss as part of the workshop.   Participants included an artist, a rambler, an environmentalist, several camera club members and a photography student. We looked at and discussed the history of photographic portraits and enjoyed heated debate about ‘the rules’.

Thanks to all who came along.  Everyone enjoyed the day & gave brilliant feedback.
